What is church membership?
Some people think of church membership like membership in a country club – if you pay your dues you receive certain benefits, but you don’t really need to do anything. Others think church membership isn't biblical because there is no command in Scripture to "become a member" of a local church.
But we do believe that church membership is biblical and very important for the life of the local church. Church membership is simply the official, public statement that you are a believer in Jesus Christ and that you are committing yourself to the leaders and other believers in a particular local church. Membership is also the church’s way to affirm that you give a credible profession of faith and want to be shepherded and cared for as a believer in Jesus by the other members and leaders.
